Part 1:
The first thing I'm good at is schedules, I agree there is a ton of value to schedules and they save an immense amount of time. Figuring out what days and hours I have available to do what work also relieves stress on my mind because I know I will figure out those problems when my availability is open to do so. One thing I'm not good at is not storing my notes in a good place. I'm scatterbrained in that sense so according to this effective study skills document I should try and consolidate my notes for better retention of information. The second thing I'm good at is answering easy questions first, as soon as I'm stumped I skip past it to let my subconscious handle it and get on an easier problem. Another thing I'm bad at is reading multiple-choice questions, I have a bad habit of rushing so I need to take some time to read the questions multiple times to make sure I understand what is being asked. I do have a good study space, that is quiet and comfortable. No noisy place and I study and do homework when no one is home making it all the more quiet. One bad thing is that I need to study for 30-40 minutes and then take a break. This document suggests it is more beneficial for shorter periods with breaks in between leading to better retention and study habits.

Part 3:
Time, scope, and cost all make up a project. Products come from market needs, business needs, technological advancement, customer requests, legal requirements, social needs, and ecological considerations. Project managers hold everyone accountable. They assess, discuss, negotiate, and adjust. Deliverables are products, capabilities, and results, level 0. The next level is the workstream, where you set how you will decompose the entire project. Level 2 is the major deliverable. Level 3 is prototypes/tests for the deliverables. Present the project to stakeholders before completing it. The MECE principle is mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive. Gantt charge puts time on the x-axis and activities/tasks on the y-axis. It is read left to right where activities are based on previous activities. Make sure you are clear and have a key in your Gantt chart. It is also known as a bar chart. It represents the project plan by putting each plan into a bar and putting them onto a time schedule. It helps you think, articulate, communicate, and monitor your plan.
what was type of the project? Was the project well done? How do you like the presentation? Can the project and presentation be improved?
Part 4:
The first project "OtterSoft" was well done. The students spoke well and clearly. As well as showing detailed code and explaining well. As well as their implementation. The demo was interesting to watch and what the team has been able to create is unique, creative, and helpful. The presentation and project are all great and are a great example of what to do for the capstone project.
The second project "Security Scan Summary Project" was also nice. I didn't enjoy it as much on the eye with the harsh black but their explanations, images, and code all displayed were excellent in helping me understand their project. Although, I enjoy the OtterSoft project more this one was still well done.
The final project "Open Energy Dashboard" was well made. Including a b-roll, actual demos, and relevant images made the project engaging to watch. Compared to simply text on the screen. The graphics helped visualize what was happening. Even technical difficulties were extremely well documented with visuals of the website itself. This team had my favorite presentation as they were able to keep the project visually engaging, explained everything really well, and had a nice demo.
Part 5:
I've been busy for the first two days of the week, but this Friday I've been able to get a lot done. I've learned a lot about how to collaborate and project management so far and I anticipate learning even more. It was really neat to view previous students' capstone projects to get me an idea of what is to come and get me brainstorming already about possibilities I can do. As for the rest of this week, I just have to complete Module 2 Writing Lab and the Industry Analysis Draft and Peer Review. I will complete this over the weekend as I have a lot of free time, and that is when my group is free as well. I'm excited to continue learning and this is only just the start. Here is to more great weeks.

ReplyDeleteYour schedule is well-structured and organized. , which is good for productivity. However, to make it more interesting, you might want to intersperse some short breaks so that focus and burnout problems can also be addressed. Also, good practice is to set up buffer time in the timetable to attend to unforeseen assignments.
ReplyDeleteI like the consistency of this schedule in that 7 days a week, 1pm to 6pm is devoted to school work. With the nature of this course, it's good that you explicitly cut out time for communication and collaboration. Making time to plan and strategize on Wednesday is also a good idea so that you have a weekly roadmap and are less likely to be surprised by bumps in the road.
