Week 4

Set Your Educational Goals      I have several educational goals. The first one is a strong understanding of core computer science concepts such as data structures and algorithms, operating systems, databases, and computer networks. A deep understanding of advanced math such as calculus, discrete math, and linear algebra will also help. With a clear emphasis on getting better at programming, that will be beneficial. I also want to have an internship and more personal projects. I then want to specialize in an area of computer science, maybe artificial intelligence as that's what I wrote for my paper but it's still up in the air. I want to be good at communicating, teamwork, and problem-solving. Set Your Career Goals      Short term wise I want to land a role in my specific interest. Whether it be software development, data science/AI, cybersecurity, or other fields. Then build technical depth and gain industry experience. I can then network with others to fu...

Week 3

Part 1:      One thing I need help with is concentration. I see my phone or a notification on my computer and I get distracted more times than I'd like to admit. academictops.org suggests I should stick to a routine with an efficient study schedule, find a quiet environment, and then get a study break. They suggest walking around in a different area but personally, I just go on my phone, I will certainly give walking a try. They also say to avoid daydreaming and look over notes from previous lectures to start getting my brain flowing on what ideas will be presented. Be attentive and have a good posture to motivate interest in myself. They also say to avoid disruptive classmates but in my case that can be putting my phone on DND, and out of site. Part 2:     I learned a lot about ethics in computer science specifically artificial intelligence. I am writing this post a day after watching the videos and for me, the TED talk of the guy discussing certain scena...

Week 2

Part 1:      The first thing I'm good at is schedules, I agree there is a ton of value to schedules and they save an immense amount of time. Figuring out what days and hours I have available to do what work also relieves stress on my mind because I know I will figure out those problems when my availability is open to do so. One thing I'm not good at is not storing my notes in a good place. I'm scatterbrained in that sense so according to this effective study skills document I should try and consolidate my notes for better retention of information. The second thing I'm good at is answering easy questions first, as soon as I'm stumped I skip past it to let my subconscious handle it and get on an easier problem. Another thing I'm bad at is reading multiple-choice questions, I have a bad habit of rushing so I need to take some time to read the questions multiple times to make sure I understand what is being asked. I do have a good study space, that is quiet and comf...

Week 2 - Module 2 Lecture

For the week 2 module 2 lecture our job is to briefly summarize three videos.  The Future is Faster Than You Think: -The seven forces accelerating the future include computation abundance, time abundance over "saved time", capital abundance, demonetization of technology, communications abundance, increasing genius, and increasing life span. -As tech becomes faster, cheaper, and stronger, networks, robotics, AI, blockchain, biology, and more all grow at an accelerated rate.  -Internet users are skyrocketing. Leading to more minds that can create, discover, consume, desire, and invent.  -Abundance of capital is boosting technological investments. The Future of Software Engineering: Key Emerging Trends in 2024 -Software engineering is the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software products. -It is expected to grow, innovate, and evolve.  -In the future, AI ethics will be more prevalent, and there will be energy-efficient computing, and industry-spec...

Week 1

I'm excited to begin my first official week at CSUMB CS online! I started off the first week by going over the lecture. I learned about how we will be utilizing APA format, different sources and what is expected of us, paraphrasing, and plagiarism. I will do my best throughout the year and I believe I'm off to a great start. This Thursday I will thoroughly review the writing lab and begin. Let's have a great first week.
